What is the Schuylkill Scrub?
The Schuylkill Scrub is an event that takes place over
several weeks every spring. It is not the initiative of any one organization,
but created by many partners with the common goal being to clean as many miles
of road, stream and parkland each year, which will help prevent trash from
making its way into our drinking water sources and keep our land clean, litter-free and beautiful. This event encourages and supports cleanup events
throughout the entire Schuylkill Watershed from Philadelphia to the headwaters in Schuylkill County.
The hope is that by creating new connections between event participants within the whole Schuylkill watershed, groups and individuals will feel like they are part of a larger network of people that work to protect our land and water resources. The event also creates opportunity for us to work together to enhance our cleanups, assist data collection and encourage friends and neighbors to organize new events.
To register for the 2013 Schuylkill Scrub, simply click on the 'SIGN UP' page and submit your cleanup information electronically. Each group or individual, once registered, will also be entered into a larger national database so we can track our progress each year. If you are looking for an event to volunteer for as an individual, and need some help finding one, check out our Scrub 2013 Blog, and search under "Find An Event."
